July 2, 2020Colours Matter: Orange
Orange is the only colour that is named after an object, it has obvious associations to the fruit. It is the colour of enthusiasm and extroversion and has the power to grab your attention.
Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.
Enhancing a positive mood in residential spaces
The brighter and lighter a colour, the happier and more optimistic it will make you feel. Orange is a very social colour, making people open up, enhancing their communication. I’s an inviting colour. It gets people talking and inspires a good mood.
Have a look at some of the photos from one of our recent projects. The Makers’ space uses the standout armchair upholstered in Alessandro Bini Cotone Velvet to uplift the mood of the room.
Orange in therapy
Orange Psychology works within Residential Children’s Homes to promote the development of therapeutically informed environments. It is the colour that gives you shelter in tough moments, by not allowing you to sink into grief or disappointment. It brings a high degree of positivity and can be seen as a refreshing colour.
Orange in classrooms
Adjusting the colour of a classroom can help with many activities when working with young children. Quite areas would be best suited with the likes of Green and Blue, but to improve alertness splashes of Orange are best suited. It also increases attention and creativity.
Fun Fact: Nobility were the only ones during the Elizabethan Era who could wear orange.
