Furnishing offices is a task we know all too well here at Apteriors. It’s a job that requires both the knowledge of best furniture options in terms of practicalities and design, as well as the skill of fitting furniture safely and sustainably. We also know that offices can often feel drab and regimented, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Let’s have a look at some of our top five offices for a bit of inspiration!

Innocent Drink Offices, London

Kensal Green, London is the home of Innocent Smoothies where the outside is brought inside, with picnic tables and grass.

The offices surrounding this area are kept professional – the aim of the communal garden area is to bring employees together. It also reflect the quirkiness of the Innocent brand. Bringing elements of fun to the working environment ping pong tables and football tables can be found dotted around.

Corus Entertainment HQ – Toronto

Corus Entertainment are another company who have the whole fun office thing completely covered, with a three story slide and boardroom tables shaped to ice hockey rinks!

The offices in Toronto are home to over 1,000 members of staff – they’re pretty large. The slide and atrium focused layout of the offices have been designed in order to create a sociable, but productive space for the company to grow and employees to thrive.

Lego’s Development Department – Denmark

When creating the Development Department Lego wanted to create a space, which was designed keeping in mind a few key things – relaxation, stimulation and brightness. They also wanted the offices to have a social feel, so employees would feel like they could communicate easily.

The offices are visually stimulating, although not overpowering, which helps to create the brightness. It was designed in order to create an environment where cooperation meets knowledge sharing. The rooms include a reception area, a cafe bar and numerous meeting rooms.

Google – Zurich

These offices look like a lot of fun, with not only a fireman’s pole, but also a slide – what more could you ask for? Maybe a ping pong table and floating staircases with sway you.

Apart from these playful features, the rest of the office is minimalist, but functional. The idea of the slide and pole is to reduce the time it takes to get from one meeting to another.

The concept behind the office was to ‘stimulate the body and the mind’ for employees and visitors, hence the playfulness. It’s attempt at being ‘work-friendly’ definitely seems to work.

Spotify Offices, London

Digital music streaming service, Spotify opened their flagship London office in 2010 and it’s fairly subtle, but cool. The office has been designed specifically to be fun and young. The layout provides a reception area, meeting room with audio visual conferencing and work rest and play area.

Take a look at the video below for an interactive tour of the offices:

See, offices don’t have to be restricted to a desk, chair and computer screen, fun aspects can be incorporated in various different ways. If you need help furnishing your offices Apteriors are here to help with a wealth of experience: info@apteriors.com
