April 19, 2022We’re Growing! Apteriors welcomes new Interior Designer

With ambitious plans for the future, we’ve been meticulously handpicking staff to join the team because we fully understand that our company and our future projects will only be as good as our people. We’re keen to keep pushing ourselves with new ideas and techniques, so selecting the right people for the Design Team is particularly key.
This week, we caught up with our newest addition: Interior Designer, Yasmine Dahim.
Hi Yasmine! Welcome. Let’s start with a little bit of background about yourself. Tell us about your family.
Both my parents originally from Algeria came to the Midlands and settled just on the outskirts of Leicester, where my two younger brothers and I would then be born and raised. Having grown up in a rural village my brothers and I come from a really interesting blend of cultures – my parents always made an effort to make sure our Algerian roots were instilled in us from a young age!
So you left the family home and what was next? Did you go to university?
Yep, finally fleeing the nest, I originally didn’t stray too far, going on to study Architecture at the University of Nottingham. A really stressful, satisfying and extremely fun three years growing and developing both as an individual and a designer. Then, the pandemic hit and I went back to living with my parents for a while, and craving living the city life again! So, when the opportunity came to me to work for Apteriors and move to London, how could I say no?
And here you are. What have you enjoyed working on the most, so far?
I have really enjoyed discovering a whole new aspect to the architecture and design industry since starting at Apteriors. The insight into all of the internal project workings has been really eye opening to me in terms of teaching me the other side to how designs are pushed through to creation. Though my personal favourite project so far has been the Metal Box Factory office fit out (watch this space for that one!). Having worked on DfE school projects before that, it was a very interesting break, giving me further insight into a new and exciting design aspect of the job.
And we’re looking forward to seeing what’s in store for us all in the coming months. It’s great to have you, Yasmine, thanks for your time.
No worries, thanks for having me! And I look forward to my future with the practice and evolving as a designer!
A BIT OF FUN
Ok, Yasmine, this is the fun bit. It’s a quick-fire round so tell us the first thing that comes to your mind. No over-thinking! Ready, Steady, Go..
