The building comprises 69 single occupancy bedrooms all with ensuites, communal living and dining facilities, kitchens, drying rooms and utility rooms. The bedrooms have each been designed bespoke, equipped with full-size double beds and designed to maximise storage space for their occupants, creating a real home-from-home transition.

There is also fitted desk and dresser space. The shared kitchen facilities are fitted with state-of-the-art hobs and combination microwaves, bespoke fridges with individual coded compartments for cold food storage and lockable units for dry food storage.

It is excellent to see the result of significant investment in new modern accommodation for Imjin Barracks, as part of the enduring commitment across Defence to enhance living conditions for our people. I am delighted that this building is now ready for occupation. The facilities and interior have been completed to an impressive standard and the design will contribute to local efforts to reduce the Army’s carbon footprint. Apteriors used innovative technical design to consult and showcase various living arrangements with the DIO prior to finalising each room’s bespoke design. We took the client on the journey with us and encompassed the army training camp’s ‘way of life’ to ensure that we delivered a fully habitable and functional space, serving purpose without compromising on comfort.

The materials used for the fitted units are natural and sustainable. We decided on a sensible neutral palette throughout which maintains a clean, sharp aesthetic. We created separate zones applicable for work and relaxation within the rooms whilst avoiding overcrowding. Apteriors managed the design, manufacture and installation of all of the FF&E, on time and within budget and proudly with very minimal snags.

Apteriors are very proud to have delivered another amazing project for the Ministry of Defence and look forward to working with them again in the future.
