Sky Primary and Eden Project Nursery is based in West Carclaze Garden Village, Cornwall. The school is providing 210 pupils and 26 nursery places for the local community and has a unique partnership with the nearby Eden Project.

This enables them to offer immersive and enriched learning opportunities which have had a significantly positive impact within their school and wider community.

OVERVIEW

Apteriors joined the project in 2022 when the school were in their temporary accommodation and procured the FF&E for them at this time. Remaining close to the project our team were able to ensure all this furniture was used effectively in the new school which officially opened in September 2025. As you can see from the photographs, the FF&E was seamlessly blended and sat perfectly in this state-of-the-art, 1,750m2 school space.

Reds10 built the school using their modern offsite construction method. By building 87% of the building off site, they were setting a great example of sustainable building which Apteriors were able to replicate with our procurement choices for the internal spaces.

We are also proud to have supported this offsite work by installing our fitted furniture in the Reds10 units, at their factory in Driffield. A truly impressive, streamlined process that helps speed delivery of the finished school to site.

THE BRIEF AND DELIVERY

Sky is a purpose-built primary school with several specialist internal and external spaces, and the design was to be both fit-for-purpose and visually striking.

Our design team created the wonderful Nursery Playroom, Infant and Junior Classrooms and the Reception, as well as the Main Hall, Library, Studio Room and the combined Design Technology, Food Technology and Science rooms. And, although this is not a SEND specialist school, our team used their SEND expertise to create 2 rooms for children with extra learning needs including an MI Therapy room and a group space.

The Library contains the bookshelves, seating and a story telling tree that are all made of the FSC wood. The nursery furniture is also FSC wood plus each piece is locked together without using screws and glue. An excellent sustainable product.

FSC wood is wood that comes from forests (or recycled sources) managed in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable way. This wood is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which is an international non profit organisation that promotes responsible management of wild forest.
